Expertise
Prior to joining IP Gateway, Stuart was practice group leader and practice group director for one of Australia’s largest IP firms specialising in the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications in areas as diverse as transgenic plants and animals, novel pesticides and herbicides, food and beverages, medical devices, monoclonal antibodies, and all areas of molecular and cellular biology.
Throughout his intellectual property career, one area of particular interest for Stuart has been working with Australian pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients in the development of commercially focused IP strategies. However, Stuart has extensive experience in all aspects of patent practice from initial innovation capture to prosecution, and ultimately defense of Australian patents.
He has worked with some of the largest biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in Europe, the United States and Japan in the successful prosecution of their Australian and New Zealand patent applications. He has also represented a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in patent disputes.
